Man, oh man, it has been a weird few years this turn of a new decade. I had a hard time recovering from a stroke (blood clots to the brain) I suffered in late 2018 and I’m happy to say I’m feeling much better. I had lost control of the left side of my body completely. Lucky for me I draw right-handed, so after spending two months in a clinic (man, that was boring) I was back at the drawing board again early 2019. I’m still struggling with my left hand, and walking with a limp is my new style. Also my energy levels are a lot lower, I was warned by my therapists beforehand that would be a challenge. maybe it’s a good thing I can’t work those crazy hours like I used to anymore. But, on the upside, I’m still here! And a lot of interesting projects are on the horizon. I’ve illustrated an epic poem by Joseph Moncure March, an American cult-classic called The Set-Up, coming in 2023 from Korero Books in London. I’m currently working on another nice project with a good friend of mine for Concerto Books here in Amsterdam. He’s written a cool series of rock-poems which will feature my illustrations, slated for later this year or early 2022. Meanwhile I’ve started a new graphic novel, called The Pit, set in current times for a change (no Corona please) here in the Netherlands. It will probably be published by Scratch Books, who run all of my graphic novels. Check out the sketch I posted with this article. While you’re here, make sure to check out the portfolio section. I uploaded some recent work from the past two years.
